Gender inequality is a significant barrier to accessing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Uganda, increasing the risk of unintended pregnancies and gender-based violence. Harmful societal norms and practices, such as child marriages and female genital mutilation (FGM), perpetuate this inequality, limiting the ability of young boys and, more specifically, girls and women to make independent decisions about their Sexual and Reproductive Health.

PHIC is dedicated to dismantling these harmful cultural norms and fostering gender equality, consent, and healthy relationships through targeted awareness campaigns. Our core mission is to conduct advocacy programs that promote the awareness and utilization of biomedical interventions, addressing critical barriers such as stigma and misinformation. These efforts are focused on influencing outcomes and strengthening policies to benefit marginalized and underserved populations at both national and regional levels.

Through our campaigns, PHIC seeks to create a supportive environment where individuals can access essential SRHR services without fear of discrimination. By aligning our efforts with the Maputo Plan of Action (MPOA) 2016-2030, which aims to achieve universal access to comprehensive SRHR services in Africa, we contribute to a broader regional goal.

Our advocacy programs are designed to empower communities by providing accurate information, dispelling myths, and promoting informed decision-making regarding SRHR. In doing so, we aim to create a lasting impact on the lives of those who are most in need, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, can access the healthcare services they deserve.
