PHIC Launches a new project “Empowering Adolescents & Youth for Sustainable Sexual Reproductive Health on 28th March 2024 at Wakiso District Health Quarters”

Attended by different stakeholders, including District Local government leaders, the politicians , Education and Health teams, CSOs and partners.  Hon. Mazi Immaculate, District councilor in charge of Education and Health decried the poor state of adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights in the district, pointing out a factor of soaring teenage pregnancies and child marriages in Wakiso District. She pointed out some areas in the district like Masulita, Busi islands where PHIC’s Intervention would be highly needed and impactful. Other members including the Inspector of schools, acknowledged the gaps in school hygiene and pledged support towards PHIC.

Wakiso district struggling with a 24% of teenage pregnancy annually. PHIC’s intervention among other initiatives is to contribute to the fight against teenage pregnancy, child marriage, gender-based violence, fight the spread of HIV/AIDS and STIs
