Adolescents and young people, senior women teachers from supported schools, the Assistant DHO-MCH, community volunteers and PHIC's health camp team gather for a group photo after a day of youth-friendly SRHR sessions.

PHIC’s Adolescent & Youth Health Camps bring accurate age-appropriate sexual and reproductive health information, counselling and medical services directly to adolescents and young people – free of charge, and delivered in a youth-friendly way that puts adolescents at ease. Alongside HIV/STI screening and SRHR counselling, the camps integrate hands-on skilling in economic empowerment, from soap making and lip balm making to tomato sauce making, yoghurt production and eco-friendly charcoal briquette making, so young people leave with more than just health information.

At a recent camp, adolescents underwent HIV/STI screening and took part in SRHR counselling sessions delivered by the Assistant District Health Officer for Maternal and Child Health, Wakiso District, and health workers from Wakiso Health Centre IV and experts from  Ministry of Health Uganda.

Each camp ensures to build young health advocates and champion who are equipped to influence their contexts to a sustainable healthy population and a young population that can make meaningful decisions about their bodies and futures.
